Flooding Causes Power Outages In Ikoyi Victoria Island

Flooding Causes Power Outages In Ikoyi Victoria Island. Eko Electricity Distribution Company on Sunday 9th July 2017 announced power outages in Ikoyi, Victoria Island and surrounding areas because some of their injection substations and equipment have been submerged in flooding.

The General Manager, Corporate Communications, EKEDC, Mr Godwin Idemudia, said they were having challenges in almost all its injection substations, as a result of the flood from Saturday's heavy rains.

He said that the management had directed that transmission is 'deloaded' in the affected areas for safety.

The injection substations affected by the flood include Lekki Transmission Station, Agungi, Lekki, Ademola and Anifowoshe.

Victoria Garden City, Water Front, Maroko and Oniru Injection Stations are completely out.

""We need to look at the extent of the effect of the flood on our equipment.

"However, we are presently working round the clock to restore supply to our esteemed customers," he said.

It at times like these that an inverter backup system becomes so precious that its value cannot be determined.  When you run your generator you won't be just burning away fuel, you will be charging your batteries.

The Mercury 2.4kva-Complete Inverter System which comes with two  Mercury Elite 200ah Deep Cycle Batteries included can provide backup power for up to 12 hours depending on usage.  If your TV is on continuously along with lights and fans it can run for up to 6 hours.   If you add four 300 watts solarxx panels to this setup, you can have 24 hours power with or without NEPA."
